From the coast to the mountains

Begin at CRUUZR, Calle Santa Faz 10, and head inland towards Guadalest. The outward ride is the main climb of the day, gradually taking you from Benidorm’s coastal setting into the mountains. At approximately 21 km each way, it is a shorter alternative to a longer circuit around the Guadalest reservoir.

A memorable stop in Guadalest

Guadalest’s historic village sits high above the valley, with views over its reservoir and the surrounding mountains. Make time to explore the old town, enjoy a café stop or visit the castle before heading back to Benidorm.

The mapped cycling turnaround is on the road approach below the historic centre. Your visit to the village is an additional stop, and the route does not include a circuit around the reservoir.

Choose your ride

With around 880 m of climbing, this is a rewarding route for riders who enjoy hills. A Specialized Road bike is a good fit for a sporty day out; an e-bike can give you extra assistance on the climb. Ask the CRUUZR team to help choose your bike and plan the day.

Torre Bombarda and the Albir lighthouse

Leave CRUUZR on Calle Santa Faz 10 and head east beside Levante Beach, then continue around the northern side of Serra Gelada towards Albir. The winding, paved lighthouse path opens up views across Altea Bay and the surrounding mountains. At the end, the remains of Torre Bombarda sit beside the Faro de l’Albir: a wonderful setting for a sea-view break and photos.

Plan your lighthouse stop: the lighthouse path has timed cycling access. Local route guidance lists cycling before 10:00 and after 20:00; an early start lets you enjoy the lighthouse ride before continuing to Altea for lunch. For a later start, enjoy the approximately 2.5 km path each way as a walk from the park entrance, then continue the bike ride through Albir. Allow extra time for this walking option. Official visitor information · Cycling access times. Current entrance information takes priority.

Through Albir to Altea’s whitewashed old town

Return along the lighthouse path to Albir, then continue beside the bay towards Altea. The scenery changes from cliffside views to a welcoming seaside town, with cafés and places to pause along the way.

Altea’s old town is the highlight of your next stop. Enjoy a stroll through its beautiful cobbled lanes, whitewashed houses and little artisan shops, then make your way to the Church of Nuestra Señora del Consuelo in Plaza de la Iglesia. Its blue domes are one of Altea’s most recognisable sights, and the square is a lovely place to settle down for lunch at one of the surrounding cafés or restaurants.

Lunch, sea views and the ride home

After lunch and a little time to explore, head back through Albir and follow the mapped cycling connections to Benidorm and the CRUUZR shop. With the lighthouse visit, Altea’s old town and a relaxed lunch, this is a ride to enjoy as a half-day adventure rather than rush from stop to stop.

An e-bike adds comfortable assistance on the lighthouse and old-town approaches. A City Bike is a good choice for riders who enjoy a longer outing with some climbing. The short approach to Altea’s church square is shown as an on-foot visit on the map.

Start at the CRUUZR shop on Calle Santa Faz 10 and leave the seafront behind as the route climbs inland. The hills beneath Puig Campana bring a change of scenery, with mountain tracks, open countryside and an adventurous feel before the route turns towards Finestrat.

A village break in Finestrat

Finestrat makes a lovely place to pause among the mountain scenery. Enjoy a café break and a little time in the village before beginning the next part of the ride towards the coast.

The loop back to Benidorm
